Car Dealership Dents
With that said, what about car dealership dents? If you have some money in your pocket that you were gifted at Christmas, why not pick up one of those hail damaged vehicles at the dealership up the street?
Everyone has seen the car dealership commercials that offer huge liquidation sales after a damaging hail storm. We are often asked if purchasing one of these cars is a good idea or not. Our answer is simply this. It really depends on how you plan to use it. If you are looking for something to simply get you around – yes, a hail damaged car or truck will still run as it would if it didn’t have the hail damage.
The other question we frequently hear about purchasing a hail damaged vehicle is: Why don’t the dealerships simply repair the dent damage and sell them at full cost? Maybe you have heard that with Paintless Dent Repair or Paintless Dent Removal, if done correctly – will not carry the stigma of a claim on its Carfax. While this is true, a dealership can either take the time to get the hail damage repaired in-house or simply collect the insurance money for the estimated repairs and then unload their hail damaged inventory at a very reduced rate.
If you decide to take advantage of their predicament and buy one of these vehicles, you can either pay to get the dent damage repaired or simply drive a dent damaged vehicle. If you get the Paintless Dent Repair done on the vehicle by a reputable PDR shop, the dent damage will become a distant memory and damage will be 100% undetectable. Also, most all PDR shops will send you walking with a PDR lifetime warranty. The only problem is you can’t claim the hail damage to your insurance company and you will have to pay for the damage out-of-pocket. Depending on the amount of hail damage, this could be come quite a costly endeavor.
